Why raw fish doesn’t make more people sick.

A particularly nasty GIF circulated online last month that left forum dwellers wondering why people risk eating sashimi or other raw fish dishes in the first place. They can harbor some unsavory things, either naturally or through improper handling—and yes, there can be parasites—but there’s a simple reason why they don’t make people more sick.

The video above explains what happens to raw fish before it gets to the table, and also why the rice served under the fish deserves just as much attention.
