Test your knowledge of this week’s big stories.

Want more quizzes? There’s no low-hanging fruit in this week’s trivia quiz.

Welcome to Slate’s weekly news quiz. It’s Friday, which means it’s time to test your knowledge of the week’s news events. Your host, Ray Hamel, has concocted questions on news topics ranging from politics to business, from culture to sports to science.

At the end of the quiz, you’ll be able to compare your score with that of the average contestant, as well as with the score of a Slatester who has agreed to take the quiz on the record. This week’s contestant is editor-in-chief Hillary Frey.

Can you ace the quiz and beat Frey? Good luck!

In his penultimate game of the 2022 regular season, Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run to pass fellow New York Yankee Roger Maris for the American League season record. Maris set the record of 61 home runs in 1961, 61 years ago. Sixty-one is a prime number, just as the Slate News Quiz is a prime example of good quizzing fun.
