Test your knowledge of this week’s big stories.

Want more quizzes? This week’s trivia quiz is fully operational.

Welcome to Slate’s weekly news quiz. It’s Friday, which means it’s time to test your knowledge of the week’s news events. Your host, Ray Hamel, has concocted questions on news topics ranging from politics to business, from culture to sports to science.

At the end of the quiz, you’ll be able to compare your score with that of the average contestant, as well as with the score of a Slatester who has agreed to take the quiz on the record. This week’s contestant is associate writer Shirin Ali.

Can you ace the quiz and beat Ali? Good luck!

Rishi Sunak, at age 42, is the youngest U.K. prime minister in 200 years. Yet, he doesn’t come close to the youngest ever: William Pitt the Younger, appointed at age 24. I could barely run a blender at 24, much less a country. I can create a nice blend of current events in this week’s Slate News Quiz.

If this is your first time playing, read the rules here. The quiz may require you to turn on cookies in your browser for it to function properly.

Correction, Oct. 28, 2022: This quiz originally misstated that a gubernatorial candidate said that abortion decisions should be made among the “woman, doctor, [and] local political leaders.” It was a Senate candidate.
