President-elect Donald Trump will be living by himself in Washington, D.C. when he moves into the White House. At least for a few months. Melania Trump is planning stay back in New York City while 10-year-old Barron finishes out the school year at his Upper West Side private school. “Melania is extremely close to Barron, and they have become closer during the campaign,” a source close to Trump’s transition team told the New York Post, which was the first to break the story. “The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.”

According to the New York Daily News Melania was the one who made the decision to stay in New York. “It’s Melania who wants to stay. She doesn’t want to take Barron out of school. She’s concerned that he won’t have the same relationship with new teachers that he has at Columbia Prep,” the paper’s source said, referring to the private school where Barron is a fourth-grader.

Although there had already been hints that Barron may not move to the White House right away, reports claimed he would stay with his grandparents with whom he reportedly speaks fluent Slovene.

The earliest that Melania and Barron are planning to move to the White House is June, according to TMZ. The Post sources are less certain about that, saying that the may eventually happen, but there are no firm plans yet.

Melania Trump’s plan to stay in New York means security will remain very tight around Trump Tower, which means residents of the area will have to keep on putting up with roadblocks and heavy traffic.
