A local TV reporter appears to have filmed the moment when an alleged Donald Trump supporter violently dragged a protester out of a campaign rally in Miami as a crowd looked on and chanted “USA! USA!”
Miami’s NBC6 says the victim, Ariel Rojas, was a member of one of at least three separate groups who protested the Trump campaign rally Friday night. He was part of a group of students holding up letters to spell out “equality.” But one supporter apparently didn’t like the message very much, tore up their signs, and dragged Rojas by the collar. The student fell to the ground, but the supporter kept dragging him and even kicked him at one point. Trump continued speaking while the apparent assault was going on.
Trump’s campaign rally in Miami on Friday night was rowdy. Protesters repeatedly interrupted the presidential hopeful, who stopped talking at least three times to acknowledge them, according to the Washington Post. “Don’t hurt ’em. You can get ’em out, but don’t hurt ’em,” Trump said after the first interruption.
Trump’s campaign did not allow a Univision crew to cover the Friday night rally, alleging a conflict of interest due to the candidate’s ongoing lawsuit against the Spanish-language network, reports CNN.
