NFL Team That Drafted Jameis Winston Launches Special Condescending Website Section for Female Fans

The NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers used the top pick in April’s NFL draft to select Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston. Winston is already quite well-known nationally not only because he won the Heisman Trophy but because he was the subject of a rape accusation that was followed by a controversially botched police investigation and is now at issue in a civil lawsuit. He was also suspended during college for standing on a table in the student union and shouting about “pussy.”

If the Buccaneers demonstrated predictable insensitivity to women’s issues by drafting Winston despite his history, they have certainly now compounded their error: This morning, the team launched what it’s calling a “women’s movement” (!) on its website, a section called “Red” that involves “style tips,” promises advice on women’s “interests” such as “home entertaining,” and explains the basic (and, honestly, pretty self-explanatory) football vocabulary term “play clock.”
