Applications to the Peace Corps have jumped this year to their highest level since 1992, the organization says, attributing the increase to reforms that, among other things, cut the amount of time needed to fill out an application from eight hours to one hour. From the Washington Post:
More than 17,000 people submitted applications to the Peace Corps this year, up 70 percent compared to applications in 2013. The 17,336 new applicants in the 2014 fiscal year make up the largest field of candidates since 1992, when 17,438 applied.
The program operates in more than 65 countries, and among the instituted reforms was an option that allows applicants to list the countries where they’d like to serve.
