Mohammed Musa is one talented nine-month-old baby. He may not be able to control his bodily functions yet but he can apparently attempt to murder a full grown man. Musa is one of around 30 people charged with attempted murder, apparently for throwing rocks at gas workers, reports Sky News. He showed up in court last week and, as could be expected, cried a lot. “He does not even know how to pick up his milk bottle properly,” the boy’s grandfather said. “How can he stone the police?” The judge granted bail to the baby until April 12 and said police need to “record his statement,” reports the Times of India.
The boy’s grandfather accused the police of making up the charges in order to get the family out of their land. “Critics say Pakistan’s notoriously corrupt police force often trump up false charges either to extract bribes or because they have been paid off,” notes AFP. Last year Pakistan increased the age of criminal responsibility to 12 from seven.
The attention the case received in the local media caught the eye of senior security officials, who ordered disciplinary action against the police officers responsible for writing up a nine-month-old, reports The Nation. A policeman has since been suspended.
