The memo went out last night: You are supposed to emote about the mysterious, race-conscious man quoted in this Romney foreign policy preview by Jon Swaine.

“We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special,” the adviser said of Mr Romney, adding: “The White House didn’t fully appreciate the shared history we have”.

This is an old saw, dating back to Obama’s first trip to the U.K. as president. So you don’t need names in order to toss more salt in the wounds.
