It also reminds me of one of the recall campaign’s less-impressive sideshows: The efforts of the Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama. A spin-off from the Tea Party Express, the CBDO comes off like a way for former movement celebrities to prove that they’re relevant. Scan their ad campaign, which eschews the “video of things voters might care about” theory for a new theory – that voters want to hear what the founder of Tea Party Nation thinks.
Anyway, the first people to use the “Gipper” formulation in this race were the CBDO’ers, who shot an ad with Reagan’s son Michael – the lone conservative activist in the second generation – using phrases like “those days of yesteryear.”
