The Trayvon Memorial

SANFORD, Fla. – I’m not blogging much from here. Focusing on articles seemed to be the wiser move. Here, though, are a few photos of the city that’s trying hard to let the DOJ and State’s Attorney take command of things, and let citizens start to move on. photo (31) This is the makeshift memorial right outside of the Retreat at Twin Lakes, the gated community where Martin was killed. It’s about as close as you can get to the homes without a guide, yet fairly far from the scene of the shooting. Police, keeping steady watch as investigators move around, make their presence known when you linger.
photo (29) The other side of the memorial. It’s otherwise free of protest tokens. Most of what’s left at the scene are familiar condolence trinkets: stuffed animals, flowers.

With this exception.
