Conflicted SUV and environment lovers—feast your eyes on a potential solution.

Tesla Motors unveiled their latest electric car, the Model X. CEO Elon Musk hopes the Model X will “redefine the upscale SUV market,” mainly because of two standout features: its Back to the Future-ish falcon wing doors, whose two hinges allow for greater access to the second and third rows; and its dual electric batteries, which individually power the front and rear wheels, giving the SUV greater responsiveness on the road.

The sleek Model X is projected to have a range of 220 to 270 miles when fully charged and is expected to make its debut on the showroom floor sometime in 2014. Though no official price tag has been set, it will likely range from $60,000 to $80,000, and will definitely have a place for your Starbucks cup. If price is of no consequence and you’re worried about peak oil, Tesla is currently taking reservations. Just put some money aside for that first electricity bill.
