Teleprompters Are Hilarious

ORLANDO, Fla. – Evan McMorris-Santoro noticed a “whuh?” moment in Gov. Rick Scott’s speech to the Presidency 5/straw poll. Scott opened with a joke about the teleprompters on either side of his podium.

I have to admit, i was a little nervous When I looked out here.

I saw all the TV cameras and a teleprompter. I figured President Obama must be here - giving another speech about raising taxes!

The joke was… on his teleprompter. (Hence the underlining, for emphasis.) It got extra bonus “whuh?” because Scott, a first-time politician who won a remarkable upset in 2010 (dripping into his bank account for a $55 million booster shot probably helped), is as programmed a speech-giver as anyone you’ve ever seen.

But the jokes weren’t over. Ron Paul’s surrogate speaker, a doughy and serious state representative, walked onstage and said the teleprompters made him wonder if he was at a Democratic convention. Hah, hah. Herman Cain did him better.

“Wait a minute,” he said, stopping his speech. “Whose teleprompters are these? These are not my teleprompters!”
