Pawlenty is Just Concerned About Migraines, That’s All

Pawlenty on Michele Bachmann’s migraines, early on Wednesday.

Pawlenty on the migraines, later on Wednesday.

If you don’t want to use your speakers, the walkback is: “What I said today generically, applying to all candidates, not her, is that anybody who’s going to serve as president of the United States, of course, has to be able to do all of the job all of the time, 24/7. That’s just common sense.” And sure, what else is he going to say? “Her occasional debilitating migraines make her unfit for president, so I will take any and all questions about my medical history, and I will also talk about whether my campaign is pushing this stuff out there?”

The second statement’s totally fine, but it was stillborn. One of James Carville’s more obvious witticisms is “if the son of a bitch is drowning, throw him an anvil.” Twice now,* Pawlenty has thrown the son of a bitch an anvil, watched him sink a couple of feet, and then dove in to take it back and offer him some gatorade.

*First time was the popped “Obamneycare” balloon.
