OK-2 Congressman Who Votes With Oil Industry and Against Pelosi to Soon Have “R” After His Name

Fare the well,

Dan Boren.

Rep. Dan Boren, the only Democrat in Oklahoma’s seven-personcongressional delegation, will not run for re-election in 2012, leaving open aseat that spans much of eastern Oklahoma.

Boren’s district, historically, has been yellow dogDemocratic turf. It was first solidly won by a Republican when Tom Coburn wonit in 1994; when Coburn retired in 2000, it fell to Brad Carson, then to Boren. But as Oklahoma’s conservative Democrats have wind-sprinted to extinction,Boren’s share of the vote has fallen and the district has become roughly 2-1Republican at the presidential level.

What will Democrats miss as Boren goes? Not a vote for NancyPelosi – he withheld his in 2011. Not a vote for health care or their budgetor… well, most of what Democrats want. The purification of the partiescontinues.
