One of the great micro-stories of 2011 – the snit over gay Republicans co-sponsoring CPAC – ends the only possible way.
Today, GOProud, the only national organization of gay conservatives and their allies, announced that Lisa De Pasquale, former Director of the Conservative Political Action Conference, is joining the organization’s Advisory Council. “There are few people in the country who know more about the conservative movement than Lisa De Pasquale,” said Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud’s Board. “We are honored to have Lisa join the GOProud leadership team.”
De Pasquale left her job after the post-CPAC change of leadership at the top of the ACU. From what I know this had little to nothing to do with the the complaints of social conservatives, some of them in the ACU’s leadership and some of them professional complainers with ready-grinding-axes, that GOProud’s gay rights advocacy had no place at a conservative event.
