Time Magazine: What Does This Doggie Think About the Taliban?

“Our cover image this week is powerful, shocking and disturbing,” Time magazine’s editor, Richard Stengel, wrote in the August 9 issue . Time had chosen to run a photo of a mutilated Afghan woman —not as a stunt, but as a serious document of the war. “I would rather confront readers with the Taliban’s treatment of women than ignore it.”
