The New Yorker Identifies the 20 Best Young Fiction Writers Who Mostly Already Write for the New Yorker

Monday’s New Yorker will present a “20 Under 40” list of important young fiction writers, as selected by the magazine. The New York Times gets editor David Remnick’s take on this version of the infrequently published list:

Beyond their age, the writers on the list have nothing in common, said David Remnick , the editor of The New Yorker.

“If they had too much in common, it would be really boring,” he said in an interview.

Among the 20 names on the list: Nicole Krauss, 35; Jonathan Safran Foer, 33 .
