There are no shortage of food-tip videos online, Slate included. But there are some particularly unlikely methods that seem to resurface every year (the garlic shake, the grape-cutting trick). Do they work?

We tried four of the ones we found most dubious, followed only the instructions in the videos, and were pleasantly surprised by the results.
