If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the full Solo: A Star Wars Story teaser trailer ever since you saw the teaser for the teaser on Sunday, then you’re in luck, because here it is! As with any good teaser trailer, this one is more of an appetizer than a meal, giving us just a taste of what we can expect from the Han Solo origin movie directed by Ron Howard when it hits theaters on May 25. There’s Alden Ehrenreich as the young smuggler-to-be, of course, but also a few other familiar faces (Chewbacca! Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian!) and some newcomers (Woody Harrelson! Emilia Clarke!) joining the mix as well.
The teaser is certainly giving off strong heist-movie vibes, with Han Solo as the probable getaway driver, which should help explain how he went from a young recruit for the Empire to the pilot of the Millennium Falcon. I’m a little concerned that this is the second Star Wars spinoff movie with a plot that revolves around a motley crew coming together to do an illicit job, which was also the premise of Rogue One. Then again, Rogue One turned out to be a gritty war movie, while Solo looks like a more lighthearted, rip-roaring kind of adventure—although probably not as offbeat and quirky as it would have been had Phil Lord and Chris Miller stayed on to direct—so hopefully there won’t be too much overlap.
We’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime, any trailer that includes Woody Harrelson saying “I’m putting together a crew” is OK by me.
