In an unintentional homage to the 34-minute blackout at Super Bowl XLVII, viewers’ screens went totally black for 30 seconds during the second quarter of Super Bowl LII. The #brands, predictably, are trying to capitalize on the moment with “hilarious” tweets.
As of publication time, NBC has not offered an official explanation for the blackout. We’ll update this post when the network does.
Update, 8:56 p.m.: An NBC spokesperson says, “We had a brief equipment failure that we quickly resolved. No game action or commercial time were missed.”
