Turns out Ruth Bader Ginsburg enjoys Kate McKinnon’s RBG impersonation as much as the rest of us. In an interview with Nina Totenberg at the Sundance Film Festival, Ginsburg was asked about her Saturday Night Live portrayal, in which she/McKinnon regularly drops savage “Gins-burns” against everyone from Steve Bannon to her judicial colleagues.
“I liked the actress who portrayed me,” Ginsburg said. “And I would like to say ‘Gins-burn’ sometimes to my colleagues,” she added. Can you smell that? It smells like smoke… It’s a Gins-burn.
Ginsburg is the subject of a new documentary, RBG, which premiered at Sundance this week. The 84-year-old Supreme Court justice hadn’t seen Kate McKinnon’s loving portrayal until the RBG film crew showed it to her, but hopefully she’ll now be dropping Gins-burns all over the bench .
