In Real News That’s Not a Spinal Tap Outtake, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee Got Stuck Upside Down on a Drummercoaster

Tommy Lee and his drum kit are no strangers to airborne acrobatics—“the Crüecifly” coaster was a crowd-pleaser at many shows on the band’s recent farewell tour. But as Stereogum points out, it apparently decided to malfunction during the metal band’s final show, on New Year’s Eve, leaving Tommy Lee to spend several minutes performing upside-down.

Ever the professional, Lee finished out his solo, and then joked around with the crowd as he patiently waited for his crew to climb up and set him free amid fans’ cheers. He apparently survived unscathed, which is better than we can say of such legendary drummers as John “Stumpy” Pepys and Eric “Stumpy Joe” Childs.
