If you spend enough time browsing the small, teeming subgenre of isolated vocal tracks, you’ll note the recurrence of a few choice artists—Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, the Beach Boys. The reason, as you may have guessed: All are incredibly good singers.
Another such singer is Freddie Mercury, which is why Queen is perhaps the most frequent subject of these a cappella treatments. Now, courtesy of Playback.fm, we have the isolated vocals for “We Are the Champions,” which see Mercury at his five-octave best, his voice lunging and lurching and vibrating in all the ways you pretend yours is when belting the song in front of the bathroom mirror. Enjoy.
