The first two trailers have painted a pretty dour picture of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Aside from a few quirky lines from Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, it seemed audiences would mostly be in for tons of staring contests and some well-trod explorations of the morality of superhero-dom and vigilantism. But a new trailer released Wednesday looks a lot wilder than that.
Here, the two superheroes meet—and it doesn’t go particularly smoothly. It seems Ben Affleck’s Batman is not so keen on trusting Henry Cavill’s Superman, who in turn isn’t a huge fan of Batman either. Batman smirks, “Maybe it’s that Gotham City and me have had a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns.” Of course, Luthor quickly pops up, apparently to congratulate himself on facilitating their meeting—and eventually “the greatest gladiator match in the history of the world.” Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman also makes an appearance, once it seems the two supermen will have to face a more sinister foe. For his part, Luthor says the oldest lie in the history of the world is “that power can be innocent.” The movie hits theaters March 2016.
