The Scariest Movie Monsters of All Time, in One Video Countdown

They just don’t make movie monsters like they used to. CineFix ranked the best movie monsters of all time, and surprise, the majority of the creepy creatures that made the list came before the 21st century. The clip divides monsters into ten categories: Whimsical, demonic, mythological, humanoid, formerly human, man-made, giant, zoological, undead, and from outer space. Obvious monsters like Jaws (1975), zombies from Night of the Living Dead (1968), and Godzilla (no specific date is mentioned, but most clips come from the 1954 iteration) make the list, but so do more obscure choices like the gremlins from Gremlins (1984) and the Brundlefly from The Fly (1986).

The only monster from the modern age is whatever “it” is in 2014’s It Follows, which is universally acknowledged as one of the best horror movies in years. As for the most horrifying movie monster, it earns the top spot thanks to a singular combination of versatility, fortitude, and the ability to replicate at lightning speed—and it’s from 1982.
