If the 2015 VMAs are remembered for anything—apart from
Kanye West’s surprise announcement of his 2020 presidential candidacy—it will be for Miley Cyrus’ outfits. “Outfit” actually seems like an inadequate word to describe the objects that adorned Cyrus’ body, and, more importantly, left large swaths uncovered. Here, in chronological order, are all 15 ensembles worn by Cyrus onstage and in sketches, each one an instant classic.
Cyrus opened the show in a sequined jumpsuit and a shrug made out of fake flowers.

In a sketch with Ike Barinholtz, Cyrus wore a furry pink coat with eyes on it over a pair of shiny gold pants.

This silvery harness adorned with white pompoms strategically covered Cyrus’ nipples and pubic region and very little else.
Continuing the optic theme, Cyrus wore a bra made out of large stylized eyes and a pink skirt shaped like a pair of lips.
In a sketch, Cyrus wore a green top that actually looks kind of normal.
In the same sketch, Cyrus wore a robe with dollar-bill print.

For a few brief seconds, Cyrus covered her entire body with a coat apparently made of tinsel.
Then she tore off the tinsel coat to reveal a high-cut silver bodysuit.
In a sketch with Snoop Dogg, Cyrus wore a robe with a black-and-white graphic, which no one noticed due to the two large white puffballs sprouting from Cyrus’ scalp.
