“I ain’t afraid to die anymore. I done it already,” Leonardo DiCaprio murmurs in the first trailer for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant. This time, the Birdman director dumps audiences in the middle of the unforgiving wilderness. According to Indiewire, Iñárritu has been developing this movie for years—and decided to shoot it in chronological order in the frigid Canadian wilds, using all natural light.
DiCaprio plays Hugh Glass, an explorer who just can’t catch a break—a bear attacks him, his hunting party ditches him, and his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) betrays him. Now to top it all off, Glass must brave the snowy winter just to survive, and perhaps find redemption along the way. The movie premieres on Dec. 25.
