As the video indicates, the series is set to return in 2016, 25 years after it went off the air, with nine new episodes on Showtime. According to Variety, the episodes “will be set in the present day and continue storylines established in the second season. Sources emphasize that the new episodes will not be a remake or a reboot but will reflect the passage of time since viewers last checked in with key characters.”
Variety adds that, according to their sources, Lynch and Frost are writing the scripts and Lynch is supposed to direct every episode. Damn good coffee indeed.
