Slate’s Mistakes for the Week of June 6

In a June 10 Jurisprudence, John Pfaff misspelled Loudoun, Wake Forest, and Mecklenburg.

In a June 10 Politics, Fred Kaplan misspelled journalist Robert MacNeil’s first and last name.

In a June 7 Sports, Alex Kirshner misstated that other than this year’s Colorado Avalanche’s series against the Nashville Predators and Edmonton Oilers, the 2008 Detroit Red Wings and 2009 Pittsburgh Penguins were the only teams this century near the top of the all-time record leaderboard for number of goals scored in a four-game playoff series. The 2011 Boston Bruins and the 2021 Avalanche are also near the top.

In a June 2 Future Tense, Mahsa Alimardani misstated that the Azov Battalion is part of the U.S. Foreign Terrorist Organizations list. It was considered for inclusion but not officially listed.
