Slate’s Mistakes for the Week of Nov. 4

In a Nov. 8 Slatest, Elliot Hannon misidentified the referee known as John Doe 42 in a lawsuit regarding the sexual misconduct of Ohio State doctor Richard Strauss as Jon Doe 2.

In a Nov. 7 Sports, Ben Mathis-Lilley misstated that Georgia lost to South Carolina on the road. It was a home game.

In a Nov. 6 Moneybox, Shannon Palus misspelled Meghan Markle’s last name.

In a Nov. 6 War Stories, Fred Kaplan misidentified Rep. Mark Meadows’ home state as Louisiana. Meadows represents North Carolina.

Due to an editing error, a Nov. 5 Slatest declared Andy Beshear to be the winner of Kentucky’s gubernatorial race before the results had been officially called.

In a Nov. 4 Brow Beat, Matthew Dessem misidentified the MTV Europe Music Awards as the MTV European Music Awards.

In an Oct. 31 Brow Beat, Matthew Phelan misstated the point in the movie Scream 3 at which the character John Milton delivers his monologue. It’s about midway through the film, not earlier on.
