Stephanie Howard-Smith is currently a postdoctoral research associate at King’s College London and has previously lectured on animal history. She has a Ph.D. on the cultural history of lapdogs, and her published research includes essays on porcelain pugs, reactions to dog culls, and the home life of elite canines in 18th-century Britain.
