One potential savior might be former Chicago Bears coach and Hall of Fame tight end Mike Ditka, who is now strongly considering a run for the Senate seat. Ditka is just one of many athletes who have dabbled in politics in recent years. In 2001, John Solomon asked why virtually all of these athletes-turned-politicians are Republicans.
