Posted Monday, March 4, 2002, at 3:32 PM ETLast Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle said that while it would "do no good to second-guess what has been done to date" in the war on terrorism, the war has been subject to an "expansion without at least a clear direction," and its "continued success, I think, is still somewhat in doubt." House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, R-Texas, issued a one-word statement calling Daschle's remarks "disgusting." Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott demanded, "How dare Senator Daschle criticize President Bush while we are fighting our war on terrorism, especially when we have troops in the field." But guess what Lott and DeLay were saying three years ago about President Clinton's leadership of the war in Kosovo?
