On Tuesday, Major League Baseball's owners voted to eliminate two of the league's 30 teams before the start of next season. Last November, as owners began griping about dwindling revenue, Slate's Charles Sisk wrote a "Sports Nut" suggesting that the league strengthen its small market clubs by merging them with others.
